How to repair a garage door
Garage door consists of two main components, a door and an opener. We’ll discuss tips and techniques to repair a garage door.
Garage doors are of two types. First revolve up in sectors and second roll up in one section. But both use spring tension to operate. The door travels on metal trails on the garage walls, and an intense spring supplies the power to move. If the door malfunctions, then it is easy to repair the garage door. Here are some simple steps to repair garage doors.
Step 1: Test the metal trails on he walls of the garage. Check the brackets that grip the trails to the walls. Make sure they are not loose. Otherwise stiffen the bolts of the brackets. Close the garage door from inside and check the trails for dents or dreary spots. If there are any dents, strike them out with a rubber hammer and a slab of wood. If the trails cannot be repaired, replace them with new trails.
Step 2: Check the trails whether they are properly aligned or not. Flat trails must incline a little down on the way to the back of the garage; the perpendicular sections of trails ought to be accurately vertical. Both tracks should have same height on the garage walls. If the trails are not correctly aligned, relax the screws of the mounting brackets, and correct the position of the tracks carefully. Examine the tracks again and make sure they’re vertical; then stiffen the screws of mounting brackets.
Step 3: Clean the trails with a cleaner to remove dust particles and carbon. Clean the rollers of the garage door and apply some Mobil oil on them so that they roll easily.
Step 4: Examine the springs of the garage door. For swing-up garage doors, the spring is curved into notches. To regulate the strain, stir the spring clip to the next notch. On roll-up garage doors, the spiral is controlled by a cable on a winch. Pull the cable beyond the plate, and knot the end to keep the strain.
