Hire A Garage Installation Professional If You Want The Job Done Right

If you hire someone to do a garage installation make sure you are safe. You have to make sure you hire a licensed contractor to do the work. You have to see a copy of his license. You then have to call your local state license board to make sure it is valid.

If you go into a contract with a worker who is not a licensed contractor and you have a dispute about the work you will not be able to seek help from the state license board. If you hire a licensed contractor and you have a dispute then you have the power of the state behind you if you are in the right.

If you are in the right in a dispute the board will back you. They will have him fix the job right. But if he has no license you are on your own. You will probably not even be able to find him to sue him if you have a dispute. And you want to make sure he and all his workers have the right workers compensation coverage. You do not want your home owners insurance to get involved.

Do a background check on your contractor. You must know if he is who he says he is. And check with the licensing board to see if he has any complaints against him or his company. You also must ask if he will do all the work or does he contract part or all of the job.

And if he does he needs to provide evidence of workers compensation insurance for the subcontractors. You also want to run a criminal background check on him to make sure you and your family and your personal property is safe. Some even like doing a sex offender search on contractors to be certain their family will be safe.

Ask also for references. Check out the work he has done. Ask his customers if they were happy with his work. Do not go only to those jobs he refers you to.

Do not in any event pay all of the bill at once. He will leave and not finish the job if you pay him before he is done. You must pay in thirds. One third to start. One third when he is halfway done. And the rest when he is done. But you need to have the job inspected first before making the final payment.
