As time goes on different matters can build up on the track preventing the rollers from rolling. Rodents can infest your garage and use the tracks to climb through the garage. They leave droppings as they travel and this can get built up with all of the dust lingering in the garage. Clean the tracks with house hold cleaning products. Reducing the gunk can make the rollers glide much smoother as the garage door goes up. Lubricate with WD-40 to finish the process.
The final thing you can do is to check all of the bolts on the track to make sure they are tight. Loose bolts can cause quite a bit of damage as they block rollers from moving up the track. If a bolt stops a roller it could easily slip of the track so this is something you should do periodically to prevent serious damage to your garage door.
