After January 1993 the Safety Sensor Reversing System was in place by LiftMaster. The sensors are located around four to six inches above the bottom of the garage and they shield the door opening with a laser beam of transparent light. There will be ten flashes in the bulb of the garage door opener. The garage door can't shut unless there is constant pressure on the wall unit button or switch.

Liftmaster garage doors often reverse after they close. This is a big problem especially since you have valued possessions in your garage and obvious safety concerns. After January 1993 the Safety Sensor Reversing System was in place by LiftMaster. The sensors are located around four to six inches above the bottom of the garage and they shield the door opening with a laser beam of transparent light. There will be ten flashes in the bulb of the garage door opener. The garage door can’t shut unless there is constant pressure on the wall unit button or switch.

Certain aspects can cause this issue. There can’t be anything in the way of the sensors such as objects, toys, or dirt on the lens of the sensor. All of these things are potentially problematic and can cause a malfunction. If your glow indicator light is constantly on, then you might have problems especially if two lights are on or an indicator. A lot it could be a mis-aligned sensor or sensor that isn’t in place.

To test out the sensors try placing an object in the way of the transparent laser beam. This will cause the indicator light on one of the sensors to turn off. This method is used to find receiving sensor, which is very important. Take off the agent that blocks it, then remove the wing nut on the sensor that is on the receiving sensor. Purge the barrier blocking the senor and loosen the wing nut. After that, fix the receiving sensor unit securely into position. Do this action until the green light turns off completely. Then re-align it until the green indicator light goes on and is showing at a constant. After that straighten the wing nut to make it fixed and firm. Do this a few times to get it accurate, if you have a dilemma aligning it spot on to start with.

If the light goes out on one or two of the sensor units, search for a potential off track wire or a wire that could have shorted out over a period of time. These wires are hooked up to the white terminals and the black one on the side panel or back-end of the overhead motor unit. Make sure they are securely attached to the terminals. Any breaks in the wires are very bad chiefly where you notice splices in them.

After you situate the sensors, the opener unit, or the door itself, experiment with the safety systems that are in place. The first step is to operate the remote control button, the push button on the remote, moves the door up, After that, place a container of something in the path of the doorway. Finally, push the remote control push button that closes the door. The door will not move very much at all and the door opener lights will begin flashing a lot.
